The pets listed on this page are looking for new homes. Because limited foster home space prevents ARFP from bringing all the dogs and cats looking for new homes into the program, we've started the Courtesy Listing page to give individuals looking for homes for pets a place to let the public learn about them.

The animals listed on this page are not in the ARFP foster program; for information about a pet listed here, please call or email the person listed as the contact for that pet.

Fitch

This is Fitch. He's an amazing pet, but unfortunately his owner has been forced into a housing situation that will not allow her to keep him any longer. Fitch is a beautiful, sweet, energy-filled dog! He is 11 months old and is GREAT with other dogs and people of all ages. He does tend to jump when excited, so you would have to be careful with him around smaller children since he is 75 pounds! Fitch is completely house trained and crate trained, and knows basic commands like "sit" and "lay". Fitch's owner just wants to see that he goes to a good home that can give him the attention he needs and will care for him like she have.

If you're interested in adopting Fitch, please contact Haley McClure by phone at (704)530-2015 or by email at hmcclure1@live.com.

Callie

Kenzie

Kenzie is the sweetest dog. She had no idea what a ball was or how to play with it. Her rescuers are pretty sure Kenzie had never even seen one before they took her in! Kenzie is a Pit Bull mix with lots of love to give. She is a quiet house dog, but still has a lot of puppy in her. She is not a whiner or barker and loves to go for rides. She also loves to have her belly scratched.

Please email katrinashill@hotmail.com or call/text to 336-561-3029 if you're interesting in making Kenzie part of your family. Adoption fee required. Kenzie has been spayed and is fully vaccinated.

Abby & Magic

This is Abby, blue cream torti, and Magic, black, and they are both looking for new homes. They are best friends and often sleep cuddled up next to one another. Abby was born in 1998 and Magic in 2000. They are both declawed and would do excellent in a loving home. They are the most loving cats. They have always been indoor only cats. Please contact Sharon at randyandsharon@bellsouth.net.

Kelsey

Kelsey is the sweetest cat ever. She was born in 1998 and is a special kitty. She is timid and would do best in a quiet home. She is declawed and spayed and has only lived indoors. She loves to be petted and enjoys cuddling on your lap. Kelsey need someone special to give her love. Contact Sharon at randyandsharon@bellsouth.net to meet Kelsey.

Macy

Macy is a very sweet and active kitty. She was born in 1999 and is declawed and spayed. She has only ever lived indoors. Macy loves to play. She is very strong and enjoys cat charmers and climbing. Macy is definitely a lap cat and would be content to be on your lap all day. She needs a home where she can get lots of love and attention. To meet Macy e-mail Sharon at randyandsharon@bellsouth.net

Arthur

Arthur is declawed and neutered. He is very friendly and knows his name well. Arthur is a lap cat and loves to lay on your leg when you are sitting down. He can be playful and energetic...likes chasing toys. He does better as a single cat in regard to sharing his litter box, but has lived with other cats his whole life.

If you're interested in adopting Arthur, please contact Christie at 202-1975 or cewindsor@triad.rr.com

Pepper

Pepper is a wonderful, lovable, loyal dog who needs a family to provide a forever home. Her previous owner just abandoned her on a dead end street! She is 6-8 months old, weighs 35 pounds, does great in her crate, has had no accidents in the house and travels well. Pepper loves to curl up in your lap for a good nap, fetching tennis balls and chewing on sticks. She is an inside dog that does not like the cold and sits nicely to put on her sweater. Being a puppy, at times Pepper's eagerness can be overwhelming to small children and other dogs that are not accustomed to an overzealous pup in their home. She seems to think that everyone appreciates the energy level of an excitable puppy.

Pepper would be a great addition to any family because she wants nothing more than to please everyone!

Chance

Poor Chance was surrendered to the Granville County Animal Shelter when her human companion relocated to New Jersey. Volunteers had been trying to find a new homes for Chance when they heard about what her owner had done. By some miracle, Chance wasn't put down as an “owner surrender”, allowing one rescuer time to make the 3-hour round trip to save her and her housemate, Bandit. Both are now comfortably in a foster home.

Chance is six years old, front declawed, and spayed. She is up-to-date on all vaccinations and FeLV/FIV negative. You can’t really see it in the photos, but she is vision impaired in one eye. Their former owner says that when Bandit was still a baby, he accidentally scratched Chance’s eye. A recent vet visit confirmed that the pupil in that eye still works, so the problem is simply a cloudy cornea from the injury. It really doesn’t seem to bother her at all.

Chance loves attention and is definitely a lap kitty who also enjoys snuggling up on your chest. She is also one of those cats who like to give little kisses and head-butts. In other words, Chance is a total sweetheart, a personality all the more amazing for being a hurricane Katrina survivor!

While she and Bandit get along, Chance does have a dominant personality. She’s not aggressive, but definitely wants to be queen bee. Chance would be happy as an only cat, provided she receives lots of loving human attention. She would also be fine in a multi-cat household where the other kitties would allow her to rule.

Chance is very people-oriented. However, she would do best in a home with no young children. A family with older children familiar with cats is a possibility. She would be ideal for a retired person/couple or someone working from home who wants a little companion to love and cherish.

Cats with Chance’s delightful personality don’t come along every day. She is going to make some lucky person or family a wonderful companion!

If you would like to learn more about Chance and/or submit an application, please contact Richard at rapartridge1@bellsouth.net .

Bandit

Poor Bandit was surrendered to the Granville County Animal Shelter when his human companion relocated to New Jersey. Volunteers had been trying to find a new homes for Bandit when they heard about what his owner had done. By some miracle, Bandit wasn't put down as an “owner surrender”, allowing one rescuer time to make the 3-hour round trip to save him and his housemate, Chance. Both are now comfortably in a foster home.

Bandit is a purebred Snowshoe Siamese, one of the more rare types of Siamese cats. He is five years old, front declawed, and neutered. He is FULLY vetted: up-to-date on all vaccinations, FeLV/FIV negative, had a complete blood panel, and just received a dental cleaning. He also received radiosurgery (uses sound waves) to remove benign, but very itchy and irritating, tumors of the sebaceous glands in his earflaps. Bandit weighs around 9.5 lbs and is a slender, muscular cat. He is a “grazer”, who needs to be free-fed. So, his feeding place will need to be protected from any other cats in the house who aren’t grazers.

The quiet and caring environment of Bandit's foster home is working wonders for this little fellow who was a survivor of both a dog attack when he was very young and later of Hurricane Katrina. Timid and very quiet when he arrived, Bandit is starting to blossom and become more assertive. One could say his “inner Siamese” is finally starting to emerge. Bandit is an active, playful cat and very inquisitive about his surroundings — definitely a "Watcha doin'?" little fellow. He is also discovering his voice, though is quieter than other Siamese his foster parent has known.

Bandit also seeks attention, whether it’s playing a game of fetch (quickly learned since coming to his foster home) or being petted. He loves neck massages and chin scratching. Bandit is also one of those rare cats who like to have their tummies rubbed.

After being on the bottom of the pecking order in his former home, Bandit is working at being a dominant cat in his foster home. No surprise there; he’s feeling better and eating better. The only one he hasn’t tried this with is his foster dad's dominant female. She’d put him in his place, if he did! Bandit would probably enjoy the company of some other energetic and playful cats.

Anyone interested in Bandit will need to take two things into consideration: (1) twice-weekly ear cleanings and ointment application to prevent ear infections and more benign tumors; (2) “pica” – a syndrome, more common in Siamese, of eating non-food items; in Bandit’s case, certain types of thin plastics, like cellophane and food wrap.

Bandit will do best in a quiet home without children. Siamese tend to be social creatures and do not like being alone for extended periods of time. Therefore, Bandit will only be placed as an only cat if you are home most of each day to provide companionship. He would provide excellent company for a retired person or couple, or someone who works from home.

If you would like to learn more about Bandit and/or submit an application, please contact Richard at rapartridge1@bellsouth.net .

Wiggy

Wiggy gets his name from his glorious hair. He does not have regular dog fur but rather silky hair, like a human’s. Wiggy does not smell like a dog, either. He smells like yummy artificial grape soda. Seriously! Wiggy snorfles and snorts sort of like a pig and we sometimes call him Wiggle Pig. Wiggy has some trouble seeing and, at times, bumps into things which can be quite funny. (Yes, that’s kind of mean, too but it is really cute to watch). He just snorfles and keeps going! Wiggy is 9 years old and is a chow mixed with a glorious silky-long haired breed. Wiggy weighs about 75 lbs.

Wiggy (The Wig, Big Wig) and his sister Tinker (Tink Tink) are two senior dogs who have been part of our family for years. Due to changes in our family we have not been able to spend any time with them. They need someone to pat their heads once in a while and smile at them. We hate that our lives at the present moment do not leave room for them, as they are deserving of lots of love and petting, so we want to find them a new home/homes. We are willing to provide the new family the cost of food and basic medical care for them for the rest of their lives. Wig and Tink are both senior dogs so they do not require lots of physical romping around--mostly they nap and wag and eat. They are not chewers or diggers and are both house-trained. They have been raised around both dogs and cats. If you are interested in meeting Wiggy or Tinker please email Nisha at filmgrr@yahoo.com or call 336-254-8485. Thank you for considering these great dogs!

Wiggy is house trained.

Tinker

Tinker is a Lab mix with a brownish-red coat who is approximately 12 years old. She was rescued from a poorly run rescue. While in the care of that rescue, she was allowed to have two litters of pups. And she lived most of her days in a very tiny crate made for a dog half her size. When her adopters brought her home, Tinker was emaciated and in terrible shape all around. But over time she has bounced back to a healthy weight. Upon taking her to the vet, her adopters learned she was also riddled with buckshot. So she has been through a lot! Through it all, though, Tinker has never lost her super sweet demeanor. She is the most gentle dog and full of love and wags. And she does her special Tink Tink dance (hence her name) when you pat her head.

Tinker has been part of her adoptive family for years, but her owner's mother has recently been diagnosed with a rare cancer. They're searching for treatment options, and therefore spend a lot of the time out of town. So Tinker has been moved from living in their home to living in their full basement/yard. This change has been hard on her, especially being a senior dog.

Tinker doesn't require much. Just a smile and a little love. Even though she is a larger dog, she doesn't take up much space and isn't very active. So she doesn't need a lot of romping room. She and her canine "sibling", Wiggy, are both wonderful dogs. Their family hoped to re-home them together, but understand that this is a challenge. They are willing to cover food and basic medical expenses to Tinker's future owners.

Thank you for considering Tinker! Please email Nisha at nkcoffey@yahoo.com or call 336-254-8485 if you would like more information or to set up a time to meet Tinker.

Buddy

Buddy is a stray Lab mix about 65-75 lbs, we don't know how old he is but he has been neutered. He is very sociable and is good around kids, other dogs and cats and is a very happy dog. He appears to have some obedience training, he knows the sit command. He likes to ride in the car and seems to have been allowed in the house in his former life. He is very loving and would be a great dog for a family.

If you're interested in adopting Buddy, please email Linda Dutton at lsdutton@triad.rr.com

Cali

Cali is a one year old, 45 pound, spayed female Carolina Dog/American Dingo mix. She is UTD on all shots and is on heartworm preventative. She is very sweet and friendly with everyone she meets. She knows her name and listens very well. Cali knows a few tricks like sit, stay, shake and high-five. She is house trained/crate trained and walks nicely on a leash. She loves to go to the bark park and meet new friends. Cali comes with all her bedding, toys, crate, collar and leash. She just needs her 'furever' home. Contact 336-286-3228 (leave msg.)

Rusty

My name is Rusty and I am part Lab and part Golden. Let's see, I think I have had a couple of part time homes in my short life, but never a forever home, and that is what I am looking for. I'm sort of a big guy (82lbs), sort of goofy, and very playful. Everyone keeps saying I need to be taught some manners. I guess I'm just a little boy in a big guys body. I do know basic commands but then someone will speak to me and I get so excited I forget what I am doing.

The kind people who took me in had me neutered and fully vaccinated. I think I am a neighborhood effort. No one can keep me, but they all want to see me get the very best home. A large yard would be awesome! I love to run. I already have my own cage, food, toys, and even a big bag of food.

Please call Patty at 336.287.5363 or e-mail her at pattydavis@triad.rr.com to meet me.

Whicker Kittens

These three kittens are about 12 weeks old. They were born to a stray mother who showed up at an elderly gentleman's house about a year ago. She was a very loving and affectionate cat, but she died mysteriously when the kittens were only about four weeks old. They are very playful and affectionate. The two white ones with black spots are boys, and the small, beige one with "raccoon" eyes is a little girl. They would adapt to being either outdoor or indoor family pets. They love to play together, and it would be wonderful if the two boys could stay together as they get along so well. They have been eating a mixture of wet and dry cat food and spend a lot of time in the great outdoors exploring. Unfortunately, the man who rescued them is in his late 80's and can not care for this cat family, so these kittens need good homes where they will be loved. Please contact Linda Whicker at (336) 595-4955 to find out more about them.

Alex Midnight

Hi! My name is Alex but the shelter named me Midnight. I'm a smart girl so now I know both names. I would really love a home where I can feel safe and loved. Right now, I'm being boarded at a pet spa and I know that sounds nice but it's not like a real home where there is a warm spot just for me and I can snuggle up to someone. I've had a hard time the past few weeks. I had absesses on the pads of my feet but the nice people at the spa took care of me. I was very good through the foot treatments even though the sores did not feel good.

I am up to date on my shots and spayed. I have my shot records. I am probably about 20 pounds. The man who transported me to the spa said I am gentle and well mannered. I hope I have a good home very soon. If you can help with that, please email jesse33461@bellsouth.net Thanks. *Alex* (aka Midnight)

Baylee

Baylee is a six-year-old, male, orange tabby cat with some of the softest fur his owner has ever touched. He's completely healthy and up-to-date on all of his vaccines. He eats IAMS cat food; anything else seems to upset his tummy. He's a very sweet boy and is great about scratching ONLY on his scratching posts (which will come with him, along with his little house, window bench, nail trimmer, some food, and litter). He always uses his litter box; he's actually almost anal about being clean and is relentless about making sure his paws are clean before he exits his box. He was neutered as a kitten which should pretty much ensured that he would never spray.

Baylee is GREAT with kids. For that matter, he is great with everyone! His owner loves him dearly, but the minor allergy aggravation she's always had to his fur has gotten much worse lately -- so much so that she can't take care of Baylee anymore. She desperately wants to find him a great new home and thinks that he would be much happier in a new home where he can receive the love and attention he deserves because he is a wonderful animal.

Lilly and James

Named after Harry Potter’s parents, Lilly and James are 5- to 6-week-old, cute, loving, and happy kittens who keep themselves entertained by playing with one another and then falling asleep on your lap. Both have HUGE purr boxes that you will hear as soon as you pet them. They are happy to have found nice foster parents by peering in their sliding glass door one Saturday night, but are now looking for a permanent home with a family that they can love and grow-up with. Call 336-324-6044 to meet Lilly & James.

Twilight

Twilight is a small, 6 1/2 lb. black and white cat that was rescued by a mother and her daughter while they were doing volunteer work for a local agency. While the mother was helping paint a shed and visiting with at-risk teenagers, her daughter was playing on the grounds with the other volunteer's children and they found a cat with 5 newborn kittens under a bush. She is an extremely affectionate cat and was a wonderful mother. She was extremely hungry when found and her kittens had just been born. She has been a delight to foster and would welcome a home with children and/or dogs. She can not go to a home with other cats as she most likely has eye herpes, which is contagious. She also has gingivitis, and will need oral surgery and soft food. Please consider adopting her as she is such a loving adorable cat.

Contact Leah at 285-8837 or goldenleah00@yahoo.com to meet Twilight.

Macy

Hi! My name is Macy. I might be a black and red shepherd mix but my foster mom thinks I may be a border collie mix. I think I'm just Macy. I'm about two years old. I love, love, LOVE attention. I ask for it, but I do it sweetly – no pawing or barking – I just look up with my brown eyes and wiggle my bottom and that usually does the trick. I have good manners – I don't jump up on people. I really don't know what toys are but I'd love to find out and play and be content in a loving home. Sadly, I was heartworm positive but I just finished my treatment and I feel good now. My foster mom said that my sweet, playful nature has emerged now that my heartworm treatment is over. I love to chase water droplets if you spray the hose near me!

Please email my foster mom, Michele, at jesse33461@bellsouth.net if you're interested in adopting me.

Jake

Hi! My name is Jake. I am a very tall boy. My foster mom said I am also VERY handsome. I'm a blonde shepherd mix. About two years old. I'm shy around new people because I was chained as an outside dog for awhile. Sadly, I was heartworm positive but I just finished my treatment so now I feel good and I'm ready for a new home. I walk very well on a leash and do not jump up on people. I would like to play with toys but I really don't know what they are so maybe I could have some new toys in my new home and I can learn to play. My foster mom said I am a gentle boy who is very sweet natured. I am neutered, up to date on my shots, and microchipped.

Please email my foster mom, Michele, at jesse33461@bellsouth.net if you're interested in adopting me.

Single Black Dog In Search Of Energetic Companion.

If you enjoy running and playing in the back yard, taking long walks through the park, and cuddling on the couch, then I'm the dog for you! I am an athletic, 35 pound lab mix with tons of personality! I am very good natured and enjoy everybody! I am neutered and up-to-date on my shots and heartworm preventative. I sleep all night long in my crate, and I never have accidents in my crate. You can take me out in public because I am very well behaved. I do get bored at home when nobody pays attention to me, but I will let you know when this happens. I love to play with other dogs, but I really love playing with my foster mom more. Mom says I was born around February 2004.

If you are interested in adopting me, then please contact my foster mom, Patricia, at (336)253-8528 or PWisn291@triad.rr.com. My adoption fee is $100 to cover my neuter and other medical costs.
