ARFP's Next Step Adoption Center (NSAC) celebrated one year of adoptions in October 2003 and continues to thrive as the largest No-Kill adoption center in the area. Three days a week foster parents bring their foster cats, kittens, dogs and puppies to the adoption center for the public to see. What was once a 45 year old building home to a needlepoint shop is now a cosy adoption center for abandoned animals.
The adoption center houses from 10-15 felines, full time, and is a cheery place to visit whether you are a cat lover or a dog lover. Window treatments match the lilac
color theme in the front room and the retail area while the kitchen sports a yellow and black look with stenciling on the walls and cabinets. The “cage-less” playroom is a kitties' wonderland with cat trees, toys and scratching toys. Chairs have been reupholstered to match the window treatments which match the wall colors. Not one to leave a room untouched, the bathroom is now equipped with a restaurant sink to bathe cats in, while the canine window treatments match the gray and burgundy tile.
The NSAC has been welcomed into the community with open arms since opening in October 2002. Many generous volunteers and donors came to the rescue with a refrigerator, washer, dryer and microwave in addition to donating labor to help sand floors, lay tile, paint, and repair holes in ceilings. The Animal Rescue & Foster Program (ARFP) is proud of the next step it has made to help more homeless animals in the community. We have come a long way since 1992 and intend on taking even bigger steps for our Next Step!
We also host a number of special events at the NSAC, like our Summer Open House and the Next Step Adoption Center Anniversary Celebration. Check our upcoming events to see when the NSAC will be open this month, either for a special event or just to come meet a new furry friend to make part of your family!
