Pet Therapy

One way that the Animal Rescue & Foster Program gives back to the community is through our pet therapy program.  Several times each month volunteers load up puppies, dogs or kittens to enrich the lives of those that have had to give up their pets to go into assisted living.  Residents gather each month in anticipation of who they might see.  Staff members enjoy the visits just as much as the residents do.

The residents light up when they see ARFP Pet Therapy Coordinator Rene' Hendrix enter the room with her assistant, Sugar, by her side.  Sugar is a Pomeranian that delights in making people smile.  The animals enjoy the attention as much as the residents do.  ARFP volunteers have their favorite locations they like to visit and the residents enjoy seeing them.  Our reward?  Their smiling faces!

You can find out more about joining our pet therapy team by e-mailing Rene' at rhendrix2@triad.rr.com.  We always welcome new volunteers!
