Fraudulent Venmo Requests

We’ve received word that scammers are using a Venmo account using a similar name and profile picture. If you receive a request to donate money (so far they’ve requested money for spay/neuters but can use different ploys) verify the sender. Here are important differences.

1. @ARFPNC is the legitimate account. Scammers are currently using @ARPFNC– (note the two dashes) but can rotate through various special characters to mask their activities
2. The legitimate ARFP account is a business account. It will not show up as a personal account

If you’ve received a request from the scam account:

1. Report it as junk or fraud
2. Email a screenshot to phishing@venmo.com
3. You can also forward it to your local police departmen
